Dick Pond Athletics is proud to host the first annual Blackout XC Invite, presented in partnership with Nike Running, on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Elk Grove High School. Whether you're looking for an early-season race, a preseason time trial, or simply an opportunity to compete under the lights, this community-focused event is designed for athletes of all ages and abilities.
A Unique Race Experience
There's something special about racing as the sun goes down. The Blackout XC Invite brings together middle school, high school, and community runners for an exciting evening of cross country competition in a fun, energetic atmosphere.
From first-time racers to experienced varsity athletes, every participant will have the chance to test themselves on a fast course while celebrating the start of the 2026 cross country season.
Event Schedule
5:00 PM – Community 1 Mile (All Ages)
5:30 PM – 5th & 6th Grade Boys & Girls (1 Mile)
6:00 PM – 7th & 8th Grade Boys (2 Miles)
6:30 PM – 7th & 8th Grade Girls (2 Miles)
7:00 PM – High School Boys (3 Miles)
7:40 PM – High School Girls (3 Miles)
More Than Just a Race
Nike Running will be on-site throughout the evening with pre-race and post-race activities, giving athletes the opportunity to experience some of the latest cross country gear, including the highly anticipated Nike Dragonfly XC 2.
Event-exclusive meet t-shirts will be available for purchase for $20, and additional Nike apparel, footwear, cross country spikes, and accessories will also be available on-site.
Registration Information
- Entry Fee: $5 per athlete
- Team Entry: $100 per team (20–30 athletes)
- Online registration closes: Thursday, August 6 at 12:00 PM
- Race-day registration: $15 per athlete (space permitting)
